Creative Inspiration

Inspiration is the result of work and preparation. I feed my creative impulse in several ways-

Spend time immersed in nature. Whether camping, fishing, or just sitting on a rock in a clean, natural, quiet place I clear my mind to open myself to fully experiencing the wonders of the natural world.  the light and colors, and it , birds, and earth and animals create the constantly varying tableaus that   present themselves. Careful study of the interplay of sight, sound, touch and smell can be transcendent. My designs reflect and honor nature.

Pursue a spiritual life. I have grown to embrace the idea of living Spirit led. In this overstimulated world it is necessary to seek quiet and space for regular contemplation. Insight and a sense of contentedness can free us heart and soul as well as providing a rich environment for creativity. Most of my most important insights have come where the opportunity to both be in nature and in spiritual contemplation coincide.

Time is the answer to everything. When I am rushing about, frantically trying to catch up or keep up I am over-stressed, and over-committed. This is the creativity killer, robbing me of my potential, sanity, and contentedness. Create margin for good things to happen, Making time for wonder, peace and contentment is the goal.

Beauty is a gift from the Creator. It is neither functionally necessary for life nor experienced in the same way by any two people. It is, however, a force for cultural cohesion, a source of inspiration, and the driver of creativity. The glorious riot of beauty is one way I maintain a connection to the divine.

This commitment of time, energy, and work is the preamble to craft. The hard part is using time wisely, being careful to create beauty with a balanced, joyous, and free life.
